Slow Down and Get There Faster, Really!
Do you want to go where you are heading?

by Marla Cummins
This weekend, Labor Day weekend, marks the official end of summer for many people. School starts, summer work hours end... With this may come the feeling that it is time to really get back to "work."

While it may seem counter intuitive, maybe it is time to slow down. That is, take the time needed to reflect. Here are some questions to help you get started:

   1. What are my goals for this upcoming month, semester six months or year? (Decide what length of time feels comfortable.)

2. What do I need to do to reach these goals?

3. How can I break the goal into manageable tasks?

4. When am I going to do each of these task?

5. What resources do I have available to help me reach my goals?

6. Are there other resources available to me that would help successfully accomplish my goal?

7. What other questions do I need to answer to have clarity about the value of my goal and the best path to get there?

8. Am I taking care of myself so that I reach my goals with greater ease and less struggle?

9. How would taking a step back and taking a deep breath ensure that I am going after what I really want?

10. Is it time to stop?

As always, I would enjoy hearing your experience of slowing down to get where you want to go as effectively as possible.

Oh, yes, have fun!
